Mountain View

Description:

Cancer is one of the major causes of deaths all over the world where communicable diseases have been controlled.
Cancer can occure in any part or any tissue of the body and can involve any type of body cells.
Common types of cancer are oral cancer, oesophageal cancer, cancer of cervix uteri, lung cancer, stomach cancer, gall bladder cancer, hepatic cancer, breast cancer etc.
It mostly due to habit of smoking and tobacco chewing.

Causes of Cancer:

Cancer is caused due to
→ An abnormal and purposeless multiplication of cells in size and mass more than they should.

→ The ability to infiltrate to the adjacent tissues or distant organs.

→ Because cells are not dying when they should.

→ If the tumour has developed to such an extent that it can't be removed successfully then ultimately death of the patient will be the result.

Sign and Symptoms:

The following are the danger signs of cancer:

→ Any sore that does not heal.

→ Formation of lump, tumour or thickening in the breast or else where in the body.

→ Unusual bleeding or discharges from any part of the body.

→ Difficulty in swallowing and persistent indigestion.

→ Persistent cough or hoarseness of voice.

→ Any sudden changes in skin and outgrowth of skin like wart and mole.

Prevention and Control:

Cancer can be prevented if following measures are adopted :

→ Try to avoid consumption of alcohol and tobacco in any form.

→ Try to avoid and protect against known carcinogenic agents such as chemicals, drugs and radiations.

→ Ensure personal hygiene to prevent the cervix and penile cancer.

→ Persons should be immunised against hepatitis B virus to prevent liver cancer.

→ Food, drugs and cosmetics should be tested for their carcinogenic activity.

→ Early detection and treatment of precancerous lesions should be done.
For this purpose cancer detection centres should be established.

→ Breast cancer should be detected at an early stage through mammography and steps taken to control breast cancer.
Millions of women today suffer from this deadly disease. Moreover the number of such cases are increasing day-by-day. The changing life style correlates with delayed child bearing (after 30) the early onset of menstruation (before 12) and late menopause (after 50) are the risk factors for breast cancer.

→ After cure, rehabilitation of cancerous patients should be kept in view.

Treatment:

For the treatment of cancer surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy are needed. Now-a-days instead of giving one therapy a combination of two or more than two therapies are given to control cancer and this has become the general practice in cancer centres all over the world. The latest technique for treating cancer is the laser therapy i.e. Interstitial Laser Photocoagulation in short form known as ILP.
The patients who cannot be treated by above mentioned therapies and have crosses the curable stage, they must be provided with some pain killers so as to give relief from unbearable pain.

Happy Diwali and Safe Diwali | Top 10 Tips for Diwali.

Happy and Safe Diwali.

Mountain View

Top 10 Tips for Diwali.

Top 10 tips for you to celebrate, stay safe and stay healthy this Diwali.

1. Sweets are hard to resist and during Diwali, when there is plenty of colorful sweets everywhere, it becomes even harder to resist. Remember the fact thatIndians are genetically prone to diabetesand so it is always advisable to keep the intake of sugar and starch minimal.

2. Stay away from sweets that usechemical preservatives, because the intake of such preservatives cancause damage toour kidneys and liver. It can also cause asthma attacks and cancer.

3.Avoid sweets that have ‘silver’ coating. Such foils are oftenadulterated by aluminumand aluminum being a hazardous metal can accumulate in our body tissues and can also enter the brain.

4. In times of increasingair and noise pollutionthat we are witnessing today, it is important that we be responsible while usingfirecrackers. It is good to buy as little firecrackers as possible, because that can help us spend less and can also stop us from polluting our environment.

5. While usingfirecrackers we are definitely faced with the risk of burn injuriesand so a few precautions are necessary. Always wear slippers during your fun time with firecrackers and never try to do anything to a firecracker apart from lighting it from a safe distance. Kids should be allowed to burn firecrackers only under adult supervision.

6. Do not lightfirecrackers in crowded areas or on the roadsides, because that might prove to be dangerous for bystanders and the general public.

7.Wear earplugswhile exposed to explosive firecrackers. It might sound a bit fancy, but if we ignore it the excessive noise might damage our ears in the long run.

8. It is better to say‘No’ to alcohol,as any excess is easily possible on this day of celebration. You can avoid a hangover and also the risk of driving while intoxicated if you must drive your car and visit your friends and family.

9. Diwali is a festival thatbrings a lot of gifts to people, so use the occasion to choose sensible gifts for family and friends. Try gifting fruits or low calorie sweets and snacks instead of ghee-laden sweets.

10. Diwali is also the festival of joy somake it specialespecially if there has been any unpleasantness with your family or friends in your past. Shed all your inhibitions and misgivings and make a fresh start. Wish them a ‘Happy Diwali’.

What is Swine Flu ?

Swine Flu is a family of cold diseases. It is very infective disease. This can spreed by air.

NAME OF VIRUS:-

H1N1 FLU

SYMPTOMS:-

Symptoms of swine flu are similar to most influenza infections: fever (100 F or greater), cough, nasal secretions, fatigue, and headache, with fatigue being reported in most infected individuals. Some patients may also get a sore throat, rash, body aches, headaches, chills nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

How is swine flu diagnosed?

Swine flu is presumptively diagnosed clinically by the patient's history of association with people known to have the disease and their symptoms listed above. Usually, a quick test (for example, nasopharyngeal swab sample) is done to see if the patient is infected with influenza A or B virus. Most of the tests can distinguish between A and B types. The test can be negative (no flu infection) or positive for type A and B. If the test is positive for type B, the flu is not likely to be swine flu. If it is positive for type A, the person could have a conventional flu strain or swine flu. However, the accuracy of these tests has of the tests can distinguish between A and B types. The test can be negative (no flu infection) or positive for type A and B. If the test is positive for type B, the flu is not likely to be swine flu. If it is positive for type A, the person could have a conventional flu strain or swine flu.

What is the treatment for swine flu?

The best treatment for influenza infections in humans is prevention by vaccination. Work by several laboratories has produced vaccines. The first H1N1 vaccine released in early October 2009 was a nasal spray vaccine that was approved for use in healthy individuals ages 2-49. The injectable vaccine, made from killed H1N1, became available in the second week of Oct. 2009. This vaccine was approved for use in ages 6 months to the elderly, including pregnant females. Both of these vaccines were approved by the CDC only after they had conducted clinical trialsto prove that the vaccines were safe and effective. A new influenza vaccine preparation is the intradermal (trivalent) vaccine is available; it works like the shot except the administration is less painful. It is approved for ages 18-64 years. Its a research treatment, but patient have to treatment at a proper hospital and doctor.
